"(...) anti-vaccination believers rely on the rest of the population
to act as a buffer against disease: most people choose to vaccinate = disease is much rarer = unvaccinated child is less likely to catch a deadly disease.

The off chance that the unvaccinated child does catch the disease opens a gateway for transmission and epidemic progression.

Also, for some children, with chronic illnesses and specific health issues, there are medical indications not to vaccinate, even if their parents would want them to be vaccinated. These children (or even teenagers and adults), with a weaker immune system, are now at greater exposure risk to well known pathogens that would have been controlled by a long tested vaccination plan."
