"... I also noticed that the audience experienced emotions if the actor simply re-enacted the physical components of an emotion. For example, when someone is sad they can have shoulders that are hunched over or move more slowly than normal or when someone is angry they can have tense shoulders and move objects about more quickly than normal. I gradually realized that re-enactments of the physical components of an emotion were a more reliable way of making the audience experience emotions and I worked closely with the actors to re-enact those physical components."
